Schaeffler Group USA Application Engineer — Engine Systems Engineering in Troy, Michigan

Application Engineer --- Engine Systems Engineering sought by Schaeffler Group USA Inc, in Troy, MI. 

Position Duties: Define specifications (SOR, product performance requirements) through customer interaction. Define concept and product base data to fit customer application, jointly with product development engineer. Assure proper definition of components to assure fit and function in customer system, including assembly at customer plant, vehicle use and repair/service. Support discussions around warranty complaints. Release delivery drawings (EDD) for prototypes, samples and production. Release customer drawings (EDC) for sample and production. Initiate and conduct System - Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (SFMEA) with customer engineers. Support development Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) with development engineer. Complete and sign off the DVP&R together with the customer and Development Engineer. Review Return Parts Analysis (RPA) for performance / issues, initiate and conduct root cause analysis if necessary --- jointly with product development engineer and quality functions. Plan the PEP2 or PEP3 product development project (PEP). Report project status to Schaeffler management as related to QTC and project budget / organize gateway meetings. Track project / product / budget changes and monitor to ensure project remains on track / organize team meetings and project update meetings. Ensure all documents are uploaded and released by the project team as necessary to meet the project gateway timing.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study plus three (3) years of experience in the position offered, as an Applications Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer,  or a related position. Three (3) years of experience must include the following: Engineering principles including materials, design, dynamics, structures, and manufacturing; APQP requirements;  and Problem solving techniques (DOE, 5 Why, or Root cause analysis). Two (2) years of experience must include: ASPICE requirements; Product Data Management programs (TeamCenter, Windchill, BearinX, or BeltDrive); Planisware and other project management software (MS Project, One Note, or SAP);  System - Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (SFMEA);  Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA);  and Developing design verification plans and Engineering Statements of Work. Travel up to 20% to various and unanticipated Schaeffler locations and client sites throughout the U.S. Telecommuting permitted two (2) days per week.
