Prisoner Transportation Officer
Work Location:Natchez, MS
Days and Hours of Work:Work schedule varies depending on customer requirements.
Requirements/Instructions:High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must possess a class A or B Commercial Drivers License or Permit with passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
Must be able to pass an extensive background check that includes criminal, credit, and driving history.
The Transportation Specialist is responsible for operating the inmate/detainee transportation system under the supervision of the Officer in Charge and providing oversight and coordination of all trip activities in accordance with TransCor America policies, procedures and goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide and manage inmate/detainee safety, security and transport in accordance with policy, procedures, and applicable regulations and statutes.
Responsible for inmate/detainee pickup from a sending agency, transporting and delivering inmate/detainee and inmate/detainee property to specified receiving agency.
Prepare and complete necessary forms and reports legibly and accurately.
Conduct regular vehicle and equipment inspections.
Comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Maintain physical and mental fitness to endure demanding trip schedules while retaining alertness, as well as protecting team, detainees and the public in times of emergency.
Consult with Transportation Supervisor, Trip Management and other Operations Center personnel in assessing situations and making decisions.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish relationships and communicate with individuals at agencies, maintaining order with inmate/detainees and minimizing the use of force.
Assist with ongoing and required communications with Trip Management in the Operations Center.
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must meet or exceed the standards of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Successfully complete the Transportation Specialist training course, background screening, and pass a Human Performance Evaluation.
Meet or exceed contractual requirements of work location to include, but not limited to background screening, substance abuse testing, security clearance, certifications and licenses.
Ability to travel in a high stress environment for long periods of time.
Extensive and frequent driving to include day, night and inclement weather.
Extensive and frequent overnight travel.
Some air travel required
Varying schedule based on customer demands to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
