Quest Diagnostics Medical Transport Specialist / Driver in Fridley, Minnesota

Quest Diagnostics is the largest medical testing laboratory in the US. Our drivers pickup medical specimens from clinics and hospitals and safely transport them for testing. Route length is 60 - 350 miles per day depending on the route. Service area is Minneapolis/St. Paul and suburbs, plus south-central Minnesota and western Wisconsin. We provide a company vehicle and uniforms for the drivers. Typical day start at the hub to prepare for the route, log into the scanner and set up the route, gather route supplies (gel packs and dry ice for the vehicle coolers, consolidation bags, cell phone, etc.). At a stop, they scan each specimen for tracking purposes (like you have probably seen FedEx or UPS do for their packages) and transport them according to temperature to ensure specimen integrity. After making all pickups, specimens are dropped back at the hub where they are consolidated and packed for shipping via air to the lab. Since we have a flight to catch, it is important that the drivers stick to the schedule as much as possible. There are 3 levels of drivers plus a Group Lead. 1. Route Service Rep, (RSR) have a set schedule and do one or two routes on a routine basis. 2. Specialty RSRs have additional responsibilities, such as sort, pack, and shipping of specimens, being a route trainer, knowing multiple routes, etc. 3. Advanced RSRs know every route and have no set schedule. They fill in for PTO of the regular route drivers and can perform all the extra tasks of the Specialty RSRs. The schedule is posted 2-4 weeks in advance.
