Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking for an entry level Environmental Engineer/Geologist to work on a variety of challenging site assessment, remediation, and brownfield redevelopment projects across the state, with opportunities for national and international work on a project specific basis. An entry level Environmental Engineer/Geologist will assist more senior staff by performing subcontractor oversight, due diligence inspections, field sampling, data analysis and assisting with basic remedial design and system optimization. Candidates should be highly motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team both in the office and while in the field. This hybrid position can be located out of our Tampa/Clearwater, Ft. Myers, or Naples offices.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for projects involving site assessment, underground storage tank removals, remediation and brownfield redevelopment.

  • Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ geologist.

  • Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/geologist. This may include subcontractor oversight, due diligence inspections, field sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water and/or sediment,

  • Performs basic calculations to analyze and design environmental remediation system components using software packages such as Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD/civil 3D, etc.

  • Prepare design documents, permit packages, work plans, reports, tables, and figures.

  • Assist in basic interpretation of laboratory data and verifying compliance with applicable state cleanup criteria and applicable regulations.

  • Perform a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure reliability, resource efficiency and cost effectiveness.

  • This position is part of a larger environmental services team and will likely provide support to multiple Stantec offices. Travel will be required.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Be willing to learn new skills while conducting field work and office assignments, work independently and be flexible in undertaking work assignments that will involve overnight travel.

  • Have excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.

  • Understand environmental engineering concepts and effectively communicate ideas to others.

  • Be proficient in interpreting sketches, drawings, and other similar material.

  • Be conscientious, detail-oriented, organized, and disciplined.

  • Build and maintain productive professional and personal networking relationships within your technical team.

  • Good driving record and valid driver's license are required.

  • Typical field work environments require the ability to stand for extended periods of time on uneven terrain, lift and move items and equipment up to 50 pounds, ad climb a ladder. Field work will include exposure to inclement weather conditions. Work assignments will be both field and office based.

  • Working understanding of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (as required).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or Geology.

  • Minimum of 0-2 years of experience.

  • Co-op/Internship experience preferred.

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-training (GIT) registration is preferred, but not required.

  • OSHA 1910.120 (40-hour HAZWOPER) training is desired, but not required.

Position will work extensively in field setting in all weather conditions and the work is generally physically demanding.
